Mobiliteach (English)

Mobiliteach – In-depth Sectoral Specialization of VET Teachers

Mobiliteach – In-depth sectoral specialization of VET teachers project, aims to create a training module for teachers on how to set up cross-sectoral activities for learners. The module will be developed and tested in three training events. The idea of this training originated from the belief that every part of our lives is increasingly related to the science of craft in one way or another and that the work world will be more and more internationally linked. The program refers to the necessity of increasing multidisciplinary to create more interactive and interesting content for students.

Designed within the framework of the KA2 Erasmus project “Mobiliteach: In-dept sectoral specialization of VET teachers”, is offering the possibility to share best practices among VET teachers, administrative staff, directors, and mobility managers on cross disciplinary didactics between Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), and Hospitality. For example, it is the case combining vocational subjects such as cooking with other such as science and mathematics to improve the achievements in STEM. Participants are engaged in workshops to generate innovative methodologies to be included in their didactics programs and abroad WBL experience.

The General objective of this program is to increase the quality and efficacy of VET provision improving didactics and WBL European development strategies and more specifically to develop and integrate cross-disciplinary didactics in VET provision and improve VET teachers and managers relevant competence,  to integrate WBL mobility experiences in students curricula and improve VET teachers and managers relevant competencies and to structure a collaborative international network among VET providers, mobility experts, education institutions and companies emphasizing on STE(A)M.

First training event – Online

The first training event was organized online in December 2020, with participations from DIEK AIGALEO (Greece) Kolin Gjoka (Albania) Berufskolleg Bergisch Gladbach (Germany) and Insignare (Portugal). The educational foundation is Fondazione Gollinelli (Italy) and mobility providers are Alfmed (France) and Uniser (Italy). During the event we referred to the following topics:

  • Exploring Cross Disciplinary Didactics
  • Machine Learning
  • The Project Cycle Management
  • The Logical Framework Approach

Second Training Event – Fatima, Portugal

The second training took place in July 2021 in Fatima (Portugal) where INSIGNARE’s EHF – Fátima Hospitality School hosted the event for European teachers and technicians from schools and educational organizations of Hospitality and Tourism. The delegation included teachers from Albania, Italy, and Greece – the pandemic made it impossible for German and French partners to attend.

The week was based on a mix of classroom training – learning and exchange of good practices among the participants – and on activities in the Training Kitchens, with moments of experimentation and testing of different pedagogical methodologies, mainly in line with the trans disciplinarity promoted by the project. Other topics were also discussed for example, 3D printing and QR code generator/usage, The Internet of Things, Food Transfer, Molecular Cooking, a “Live Tour”. ACISO – Ourém-Fátima Business Association presented the International Workshop on Religious Tourism. The CEO of Fátima Hotels Group explain how this group of independent hotels can cooperate with each other to achieve international promotion. The international experiences of students sent for internships in Europe was also one of the points worked on.

Third Training Event – Athens, Greece

binary comment

The Thematic IEK STEAM Egaleo hosted the “3rd edition” of “Mobiliteach Sectoral – In depth specialization of VET teachers”, on November 15-18, 2021.

Over the course of four days, the Vocational Training instructors and administrators from Italy, Portugal, Germany, Albania and Greece collaborated to come up with ideas and discover and design new strategies to improve their training and teaching methodologies quality.

A wide range of activities allowed participants to explore in depth the challenges and opportunities in this area as well as to design new approaches to tailor training programs to market needs and to unlock the potential of their students. In summary, the workshops included:

  • Exchange of good practices and workshops, dedicated to the integration STEAM in students curricula with special emphasis on Tourism, hotel management and food processing, among others.
  • Practical application laboratories of Industry 4.0 in Hospitality.
  • Laboratories and use STEAM in food processing for people with special nutrition needs.

The central idea was to provide important insights concerning the future of these areas.

During the event, special attention was paid to the development of 21st century basic skills and abilities. Considering that, today an internship is the most effective opportunity for students development, the participants took part in experiential activities through which they realized what it is like to live abroad as a trainee, so that they can enhance student’s personal development.

Fourth Training Event – Bologna, Italy

The fourth edition of the “Mobiliteach Sectoral – In depth specialization of VET teachers”, took place in Bologna, Italy at the premises of Fondazione Golinelli (3 days) and Uniser (1 day) from 7 to 10 March 2022.

Over the course of four days, the Hospitality trainers and administrators from the VET Institutes of Italy, Portugal, Germany, Greece, Albania and Spain collaborated in a joint effort to improve the quality of the training offered by upgrading and optimizing their teaching methodologies.

The participants were initially taken on a tour around the amazing facilities of the Golinelli Foundation and saw the enormous educational possibilities it can offer to the trainees through its perfect equipment and staff infrastructure.

Then various educational activities took place such as:

  • Food Science and Society Laboratory: A laboratory consisting of three scientific experiments on food safety, food awareness, carbon footprint sustainability and value and reliability (or not) ) of scientific knowledge.

Molecular gastronomy workshop: Participants performed some molecular culinary preparations. Thus they were able to discover the reactions and “transformations” that take place in the kitchen with the contribution of chemistry that introduces new ingredients to the preparation of dishes.

At the end of this seminar, the topic of super foods was discussed focusing on Spirulina, which participants observed under a microscope.

  • Design Thinking for the Hospitality Entrepreneurship: Participants, working in small groups, designed a hospitality product or service through the Design Thinking and Empathy design approach. They then made “prototypes” which they presented to the plenary to collect important observations for their improvement.
  • Visit to the IPSAR School of Vocational Education and Training Luigi Veronelli: The participants were guided in all areas and workshops by the teachers and students of the school. They were informed about the educational processes and experienced in practice the warm hospitality of a pioneering Educational Institution.

Digital Code Lab: Learners working in small groups programmed Damerino, an educational, social robot capable of expressing emotions by speaking, listening, and being programmed to interact with users by making suggestions and giving information. They then explored the possibilities and ways of using such a robot in the field of hospitality.

  • Post-mobility recognition and validation procedures: Insignare’s (Portugal) methodology was presented. Participants explored different processes and ways of evaluating and recognizing the effects of mobility and exchanged views working in mixed groups.
